We are excited to invite you to the official launch of the Advising Community of Practice (ACP) at the University of Minnesota, a new collaborative space for academic advisors and student support professionals.  The ACP will provide an opportunity to build a community, share expertise, and enhance the professional experiences of advisors across the university.

This workshop will facilitate conversation about study abroad in Africa for anyone committed to encouraging students to experience the continent as a hub for a deeper understanding of global issues. We will discuss existing opportunities for study abroad in Africa and the real and perceived challenges pertaining to student interest, academic support, and health and safety.

Please join an event hosted by colleagues from the Academic Advising Network and OUE Advising Initiatives. Come for some fun, relaxation, and connection with colleagues. The vibe is informal. Come as you can. We’ll have some get-to-know-one-another activities, play trivia, and award some prizes. We welcome you to attend all (or part) of the gathering! Treats will be provided.

For those not familiar with this initiative, the goal is to help staff and faculty understand the unique issues transfer students face and become Transfer Student Advocates.

Program Requirements:

Do you have a policy or process question that’s arisen during the semester? Are you curious about the new internship policy or recent changes to leave of absence procedures? Please mark your calendars for the upcoming Policy Drop-In hour sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Education. Bring your questions and thoughts regarding policies and policy implementation as it relates to your advising work.

Audience: Student Services Leadership (coordinator role in APLUS)

This drop-in hour is for users that hold the Coordinator role in their APLUS unit. APLUS Coordinators have additional access to unit-wide reports and settings. This will be held as a monthly drop-in hour for coordinators to discuss best-practices, tips, and tricks for effectively using APLUS. 

Please invite any other APLUS coordinators to this training, all are welcome.
