Students who are planning to study or intern abroad
Tips for Advising
The Learning Abroad Center is the University of Minnesota's comprehensive resource for study, intern, community engagement, and research experiences worldwide. It offers a full range of advising and support services to students, including program selection, academic planning, financial planning, registration, credit, cultural adjustment, and reentry.
Referring Students
Students considering a learning abroad experience should start their engagement with the Learning Abroad Center with a First Step Session. Students can complete a First Step in-person or online.
After completing a First Step, students can schedule an optional program selection advising appointment with an adviser in the LAC to receive additional information to help them choose a program that aligns with their academic, personal, and professional goals and interests.
