This session provides advisors new to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities a big-picture look at undergraduate advising on campus.  We will discuss the organization of the campus and introduce the key groups and players in undergraduate education.  What are the roles and goals of advising?  What are some of the key campus resources and tools for advisors?  Who are these people or groups that are sending me all kinds of emails?  When do things happen during the year?

New Advisor Group CAPE Tour

The New Advisor Group is an informal way to meet other new and new-ish advisors while learning more about the UMNTC campus. We meet monthly and our approach is to include both group discussion and connection time, in addition to visiting many of the offices across campus to which we often refer our students. This session is a chance to learn more about the Center for Academic Planning and Exploration (CAPE).

New Advisor Group Athletics Tour

The New Advisor Group is an informal way to meet other new and new-ish advisors while learning more about the UMNTC campus. We meet monthly and our approach is to include both group discussion and connection time, in addition to visiting many of the offices across campus to which we often refer our students. This session is a chance to learn more about the Lindahl Academic Center for student-athletes.

Learning Abroad Training for Advisors

This training is developed for UMTC advisors and other student services staff working with undergraduate students planning to study abroad. We will cover the process and basics of how UMTC students plan for learning abroad academically, financially, and personally. This will be an overview of how the Learning Abroad Center works with students and an opportunity for participants to ask questions based on their own experience advising students.

APAS User Group Meeting

The APAS/TES team would love to have you join us if you are interested in learning more about APAS and TES. This will be our quarterly APAS User group meeting. We share helpful information for advisors and user training along with tips and tricks for processing exceptions on students' APAS reports. All APAS users are welcome and encouraged to attend.

New Advisor Group Fall Mixer

The New Advisor Group is an informal way to meet other new and new-ish advisors while learning more about the UMNTC campus. We meet monthly and our approach is to include both group discussion and connection time, in addition to visiting many of the offices across campus to which we often refer our students. This session is a mixer to have a chance to get to know other new advisors on campus.
