On behalf of the Advising Initiatives team, we are pleased to invite you to a virtual training focusing on APLUS.
FALL 2023 APLUS TRAINING:
Part 1: Overview of APLUS Retention Initiatives
Part 2: APLUS Alerts & Warnings: Updates and Improvements
Facilitated by: Kate Ryan (OUE), Beth Lingren Clark (OUE), Scott Coenen (CCAPS), and Bavi Weston (CLA)
Description:
This will be a two-part training focusing on APLUS. Participants are welcome to join the training for one or both parts.
Part 1 of this training will focus on APLUS as a retention initiative for the University of Minnesota. Do you ever wonder how APLUS data is used more broadly? Have you ever asked how the information you enter into APLUS gets used by other people? This session will demystify what is happening behind-the-scenes with APLUS data and connect the dots on how an advisor’s daily work in APLUS connects to broader student retention initiatives. It will also cover tips and tricks you can use when filtering in APLUS for non-enrolled and high priority students.
Part 2 of this training will cover updates and improvements for APLUS Alerts & Warnings. In an effort to reduce administrative burden for advisors, which was also a theme at the recent Advising Forum, a system wide workgroup was formed in 2021 to review practices for Alerts & Warnings. At this session, you will learn about the resulting improvements for Alerts & Warnings along with viewing brief demonstrations of the functionality. Key enhancements that will improve the daily advising experience include:
- Explanations of differences and attributes of alerts/warnings
- Timing of alerts/warnings
- Reduced redundancies in alerts/warnings
- Consistency in alerts/warnings for exempted groups
