For those not familiar with this initiative, the goal is to help staff and faculty understand the unique issues transfer students face and help those who work with these students become Transfer Student Advocates.

Becoming Aware of Your Own Culture
In this interactive workshop, you will be challenged to uncover aspects of your own culture and how these shape your perception of the world.

This session provides advisors new to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities a big-picture look at undergraduate advising on campus. We will discuss the organization of the campus and introduce the key groups and players in undergraduate education. What are the roles and goals of advising? What are some of the key campus resources and tools for advisors? Who are these people or groups that are sending me all kinds of emails? When do things happen during the year?

The Advisor Training Workgroup has planned a series of Zoom webinars for academic advisors ‘Focusing on Essential Needs for Students.’ Given our current pandemics, this training series is inspired by Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs starting with a webinar focusing on campus resources for students’ most basic survival needs and moving towards resources for students’ more complex needs.
