Understanding International Student Pandemic Experiences to Better Support Their Academic Journey

Presenter: Alex Cleberg (International Student and Scholar Services) and Dr. Xi Yu (International Student and Scholar Services)

International students have faced unique challenges during the pandemic. From timezone frustrations to social isolation, the pandemic and our responses to it have created new barriers and opportunities for students. Join this workshop to learn key themes derived from ISSS listening sessions, survey results, and direct conversations with students. Please also come prepared to share what has worked in your office and learn how others are minimizing barriers and maximizing opportunities created from having a globally dispersed technologically connected student body.

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify opportunities to engage students in a virtual environment
  • Implement emergent best practices as determined by peers
  • Understand the student experience
