Effectively Supporting Students with Disabilities

On behalf of the Advisor Training Initiatives team, we are pleased to invite you to a workshop on ‘Effectively Supporting Students with Disabilities.’

Training topics will include:

  • Overview of the Disability Resource Center and its accommodation services in supporting students
  • Tools for taking a more technical approach with students and highlighting the importance of making a connection with the DRC
  • Supporting students through feelings of pride, shame, and discomfort
  • Considering intersectionality in students’ identities to inform our interactions with students Creating stronger connections between advisors and the Disability Resource Center Engaging in consultation on student case scenarios Time for questions and consultation

This session will be facilitated by Megan Boyd (CLA), Berne Christiansen (CLA), and Sohail Akhavein (DRC). Presentation slides and case scenarios will be provided to all registered participants a few days before the workshop.
