Advising First Gen/Low Income Students

Please join your colleagues for our third annual December workshop sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Education focusing this year on ‘Students who are first-generation / low-income: Delving into complex identities.’ 

Our keynote speaker, Dr. Rashné Jehangir, will address “Complicating the Narrative of First-Generation / Low-Income Students.” Dr. Jehangir is an Associate Professor of Higher Education and a Morse Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development. She began her career as an advisor for college students in the federally funded SSS TRIO program here at the University of Minnesota. Some of her research interests include a focus on the experiences of low-income, first-generation students, multicultural curriculum and identity development, learning communities and design and structure of First Year Experience Programs.
