The John Tate Professional Development Conference and Awards Ceremony encourages fellowship by bringing together faculty, administrators, professional advising staff, career counselors, and other members of the extended University community interested in academic advising. The conference is held in March of every academic year; you will receive email communications about the Tate conference in the fall. The John Tate Professional Development Conference and Awards Ceremony is sponsored by the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost and the AAN.
The 2020 John Tate Professional Development Conference and Awards Ceremony took place on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020. Opening remarks were provided by President Joan T. A. Gabel, and two keynote speakers, Regent Mike O. Kenyanya and Alexis Murillo, provided an inside look into their lived experiences as University of Minnesota students. The participation of University leaders helped in recognizing the important work done on a daily basis with and for our students.
Along with the return of the Tate Talks and Poster Presentations, the Tate Conference had incredibly insightful and dynamic presentations this year. Thank you to all who presented!
The Tate Planning Committee made sure to live out the new Diversity and Inclusivity Statement by fostering a welcoming environment for our community members through intentional choices in food, decorations, communications, and more. We hope all who attended felt genuinely welcomed and appreciated.
